Participant Profiles FAQs

Learn about how to use profiles in Optimal Panels in Usability Testing.

Can I create more than one Participant Profile in a study?

Yes. You can create multiple profiles within a single study, each with its own targeting criteria, screener questions, and participant quota. This allows you to recruit different participant segments without creating separate studies.

When does recruitment start?

Recruitment begins after you publish your study. Before publishing, you can review the estimated cost, feasibility level, and expected fill time on the Finalize recruitment page.

Can I edit profiles after my study is live?

After the study has been launched, you cannot add new profiles or edit existing targeting or quotas. If you need additional profiles, duplicate the study and create the new profiles there.

Can I recruit my own participants and use Optimal Panels in the same study?

Not yet. Once you select Optimal Panels as your participant source and launch a study, you cannot share the study link directly with your own participants. Support for using both Optimal Panels and your own participant link within the same study is planned for a future release.

What happens if a profile doesn't fill?

Recruitment progress is tracked independently for each profile. If there aren't enough participants available who match your targeting criteria, you'll see an update on the Finalize recruitment tab. From there, you can contact our recruitment team for assistance in finding suitable participants or adjusting your recruitment strategy.

What are exclusion controls?

Exclusion controls automatically prevent participants who have recently completed studies in your workspace from being recruited again within a specified time period. This helps reduce participant fatigue and improves the quality of your research by limiting repeat participation.

Can I reuse profiles for another study?

Not yet. Today, profiles are created for a single study. Support for saving and reusing profiles across studies is on the roadmap.
