Adding a survey to Optimal's Usability Testing tool

1. Add a study section

In Optimal's Usability Testing tool, start by adding a new study section and select Survey as the section type.

2. Set up your section

  • Add a section title for your internal reference.

  • You can also choose to randomize this section, which will shuffle it with other sections in your study or randomize tasks within this section.

3. Add survey questions

  • Click on Add a question and select a question type

    • Spoken response

    • Plain text

    • Rating scale

    • Multiple-choice

    • Single-choice

    • Matrix

    • Ranking scale

  • Please note that the question types available are slightly different than what's available currently in the Optimal Surveys tool.

  • Display and branching logic is currently not available in the Usability Testing tool. If this feature is important to you, please submit feedback via our feedback form.

  • You can apply a different question type by using the dropdown.

Reordering tasks

To reorder tasks, hover over the task icon, then click and drag and drop to reorder.

Deleting & duplicating tasks

Use the three dots (โ‹ฎ) in the top right of any selected task to duplicate or delete it. You can duplicate both prototype tasks and their post-task questions to save time.
