How to analyze your Insights

On the Insights overview page available via the Insights tab, each Insight will show the number of observations and sessions associated with that Insight.

If you are looking to dive deeper into an individual Insight, click on that Insight on the main page. On the individual Insight page, you’ll be able to see the title and summary and be able to scroll through the associated observations and sessions along with the tags.

Tip: At a glance, you'll be able to see the number of observations and sessions associated with each Insight. While a higher number can be a useful starting point, it doesn’t always mean it’s the most meaningful or actionable Insight. An Insight with fewer observations from a highly relevant segment may be more valuable than one with a high number of observations but less contextual relevance.

A high number of observations does not necessarily mean that an Insight is stronger than one with less. This could be the case or it could also indicate that your Insight might be too vague or unspecific if too many observations relate to it. The number of sessions associated with an Insight can show you how many of your participants the Insight was identified for.

For example, in usability testing, if an Insight stating ‘the signup process was confusing’ was only identified in 2/18 sessions, but a different Insight was evident across 12/18 sessions, you might look into which sessions were represented for each Insight and the relevance these have to your study to be able to weigh the significance of each Insight.

When diving into an individual Insight, you can use the tags and segments associated with observations to help identify patterns among your participants and assess which Insights may hold the most weight for your organization.

How to share your Insights

Team members can copy a URL, such as the main Insights overview page or individual Insights page, to share with another Optimal user who has access to the study. The URL cannot currently be shared with non-Optimal users or users without access to the study. You cannot currently directly export Insights from Optimal.
