When you upload videos to Interviews, AI automatically analyzes them and pulls out insights, which you can find in the Results > Insights section under an Interviews study.
What You’ll Find on the Insights Page
Each Insights page includes an AI-generated summary as well as insights grouped into the following categories:
Key themes
Pain points
Opportunities
Behaviors
Wants
Positive sentiments
There are also customized additional insight categories that will be added based on your uploaded videos.
You also have the ability to add custom topics and context to have AI focus on automating insights specific to your areas of interest. As you add more recordings, new, relevant insights will be automatically added.
Start by clicking Add topic under Insights.
Click on one of the categories, e.g. key themes, to view all associated insights.
Individual Insights
To dive into a specific insight:
Click on a category (e.g., Key themes).
Select an insight from the right side panel.
See the number of sources and citations associated with each insight.
Once an individual insight is selected, you can:
View the description and supporting points
Copy the description and supporting points
View citations
Pin it
Share a link to the individual insights
To view a shared link, the viewer must be logged into Optimal.
Regenerating Insights
When you upload new interviews to a project, you'll have the option to regenerate new insights.
A user will need to click on Regenerate insights above the insight Summary to incorporate insights from the new video(s).
Ability to Pin Insights
You can pin any AI-generated insight in the Insights or Chat sections.
When you regenerate insights, new insights will replace all current insights in the Insights section, except for insights that you choose to pin.
After regenerating, highlight reels only associated with pinned insights will be saved.
To keep any existing insights and associated highlight reels, be sure to pin your insights before clicking on Regenerate insights.
To pin an insight in the Chat section, click the pin icon to the right of the insight.
After pinning, you can rename the insight and organize it into an existing topic or create a new one.
Pinned chat insights will be clearly indicated in the Insights section.
Highlight Reels, Clips, and Citations
Once an individual insight is selected, you'll see the associated highlight reel and can:
Download the highlight reel
Click on citations indicated by an icon and number to jump to the exact timestamp in the highlight reel. Each speaker will be associated with their own dedicated icon.
Download clips by clicking on ... then Download clip in an individual citation box
Click on Show quotes
Once a quote is shown, you can:
Copy the quote
Click to view the full transcript
Note on Languages
You can upload user interviews to Optimal Interviews in the following languages to make it easier to gather and review insights across regions and global audiences.

Spanish (Spain)
Spanish (US & Latin America)
You can set the languages under the Languages section under Details or when uploading new recordings. These language(s) will be automatically detected and used to automatically generate transcripts and citation quotes in the original language.
You can also use AI Chat in any of these languages and it will respond with the same language.
Please note that the insights will remain consistent in English. PII redaction is currently supported for English and Spanish (US & Latin America).
